USKBTC Nominating Committee Report

Below is the letter from the Nominating Committee to fill vacancies on the USKBTC Board of Governors.  In accordance with our Bylaws the letter has been mailed to all members who had paid their dues as of June 17, 2019.

June 20, 2019

TO: Members of the United States Kerry Blue Terrier Club

The Nomination Committee, after careful consideration, has decided to extend an invitation to the following to be seated on the Board of Governors for the 2020 slate.

• Heidi Cregor (HI - returning BOD) • Cheryl Stancyk(OH) • Nick Fletcher (TX - returning BOD) • Eva Hansen (FL)

In accordance with the By-laws, the board of governors appointed a nominating committee - Melanie Feldges, Barbara Beuter, and Bonnie Whelahan - to nominate candidates from eligible members of the USKBTC to fill the four (4) board positions to be elected in 2020.

Other Nominations
The By-laws also provide that additional nominations of eligible members may be written by petition addressed to and received by the Corresponding Secretary by July 20th, 2019. To be eligible, a member must be in good standings and a resident of the USA. Any other eligible member who wishes to be a candidate for board of governors must submit a petition that:

        1. Is signed by three (3) club members in good standing who are not the spouse or member of the
           immediate family of proposed nominee, and
        2. Contain the candidates written and signed acceptance of the nomination.

To be valid, a properly completed original petition must be sent to and received by my residence.
Jean Waters:  67 Conant St. Beverly, MA 01915 - on or before July 20, 2019. [By-0laws, Article IV Sec4(B).] The petition need not be in any particular form.

Duties and Responsibilities of USKBTC Board Member:
Serving on the board presents a tremendous opportunity to work for the Kerry Blue Terrier at a national level.
It provides a platform to ensure the breeds positive future and encourage growth in competition as well as in companionship. The board members duties include, but are not limited to the following:

        1- Responsibility for general management of the club’s affairs.

        2 - Chairing, coordinating and participating in various special committees.

        3 - Full participation in club business via the Internet and phone communications.

        4 - Being open and available to constituents within the Kerry community. Bringing issues
             and concerns to the full board for discussion.

        5 - Representing the USKBTC and the Kerry Blue Terrier to the highest standards when
            attending dog shows and related events.

        6 - Expect to attend the two face-to-face board meetings in St. Louis at KerryFest in May
            and in Philadelphia at Montgomery County in October.

Board members are not paid. Traveling to meetings and events are at their own expense.

Election:
If no valid additional nomination is received by the USKBTC Corresponding Secretary on or before July, 15, 2019, the nominating committee’s slate will be declared elected in accordance with Article IV, Sec. 4(C) of the By-laws. If any additional valid nominees running from the floor is received, an election will be conducted. Each club member eligible to vote will be sent a ballot listing all the candidates names and a short “Bio.” In order for the ballot to be counted, it must be received by the Corresponding Secretary on or before August 20, 2019. The results of the election will be made known to the candidate no later than September 1, 2019. The candidates with the highest number of votes will be declared and take office at the annual board meeting in October, 2019.
